Memorial Day house fire under investigation

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (WAFB) – The cause of a Memorial Day house fire in Baton Rouge is under investigation.

A Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman confirmed that crews were called to a home in the 8700 block of Wilbur Street, near Harding Boulevard, around 10 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the back of the house.

All residents of the house were found outside unharmed.

When the emergency services entered the house, they discovered a fire in the attic.

The damage was limited to the attic, but the rest of the house suffered smoke and water damage.

By 10:35 a.m. the fire was under control and caused approximately $70,000 in damage.
