Today’s weather forecasts thunderstorms and possibly tornadoes

The day started cloudy, with thick fog in some spots along the coast. A few showers and thunderstorms continue to move, currently northeast of the city, with another batch in southern New Jersey.

Meanwhile, the clouds are clearing in the west, which will only strengthen the second wave of storms in the afternoon. Until then, things will calm down a bit, but a shower or storm is still possible at any time (we call this prefrontal convection).

Then, around 1 p.m., more storms will move in west of us in Pennsylvania. The window of concern has moved forward a bit from the weekend, from about 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. from west to east (2 p.m. in western New Jersey, leaving the eastern end at 9 p.m.).

The main concerns are heavy rains and damaging winds, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
