Atlanta Falcons help bring women’s flag football to Alabama

The Atlanta Falcons announced that the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation will provide grants to 20 schools across the state of Alabama to help them launch girls’ flag football programs.

These efforts began in 2019 when the Falcons helped make girls’ flag football an official high school sport in Georgia. The state of Georgia became the fourth state to recognize girls’ flag football as an official high school sport.

After the success in Georgia, the Falcons collaborated with RCX Sports and the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) to help bring girls’ flag football to Alabama in 2021. In the 2024-25 school year, the The AHSAA has sanctioned women’s flag football as an official sport. . Today, 112 schools across the state offer girls’ flag football programs.
