Former Alberta hockey volunteer in court for sexual assault

A former volunteer with the Central Alberta Minor Hockey Association is scheduled to appear in a Didsbury courtroom on Monday.

Alexa Suitor, a 32-year-old Sundre resident, is accused of sexual harassment, sexual assault and four counts of providing sexually explicit material to a child.

The RCMP began investigating after receiving a complaint in end of March involving a person from the Sundre Minor Hockey Association.

Investigators have now determined that there were four victims, all of them teenage boys.

At her last appearance On April 22, Suitor was joined by a handful of supporters.

During that hearing, her lawyer requested that the case be adjourned until May 27 to await disclosure of evidence by the Crown.

Police did not say whether the youths involved were hockey players, but said the alleged crimes did not take place at the local arena.

Suitor was secretary of the association this season, but was removed from the organization’s board of directors.
