Bus crashes into vehicles in Turkey, 10 dead and 39 injured

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A coach crashed into several vehicles on a highway in southern Turkey, killing at least 10 people and injuring 39 others, officials said Monday.

The accident occurred late Sunday in Mersin province when the bus crossed into the oncoming lane amid heavy rain and collided with two cars. A truck later crashed into all three vehicles, Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan told reporters.

The injured were taken to nearby hospitals and at least eight of them were in serious condition, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

There were 28 passengers on board the intercity bus, which was traveling from the southeastern city of Diyarbakir to Adana in the south of the country, Anadolu reported.
