Teenager arrested after raping 17-year-old girl during night outing

A teenager was arrested after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped during a night out.

The attack occurred sometime between 11pm on Saturday May 11 and 5am the following morning in Knutsford. Cheshire Police said the girl was in and around the town centre and the Mobberley Road area at the time of the rape.




In an update on Friday, May 24, investigators said a 19-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of rape. Since his arrest, he has been released on bail and conditions while the investigation continues.

A 37-year-old man arrested earlier had been “excluded from the investigation,” police added. He was released without further action being taken against him, the Manchester Evening News reported.

In a statement on Friday, a Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Following further enquiries, a second person, a 19-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of rape. He has since been released on bail.”

“The 37-year-old man previously arrested has been excluded from the investigation and released without further action being taken against him. The investigation is currently ongoing and anyone with further information should contact Cheshire Police via the website or 101 quoting IML-1822074.”
