Two policemen suspended, departmental level inquiry against DySP, DySP, Angamaly, policemen suspended, Gonnda leaders

DySP MG Sabu, Thammanam Faizal

Alappuzha: The police officials, who along with Alappuzha Crime Police DySP MG Sabu, had attended the festival organised by the Goonda leader in Angamaly, have been suspended. The decision was taken on the basis of preliminary investigation. On Sunday, the police officials had attended the festival organised by the Goonda leader Thammanam Faizal at his house.

Action has been initiated against the officials of the Alappuzha Police Camp. According to police sources, a driver and a CPO have been suspended in connection with the incident. They have been posted as temporary DySPs. The names of the police officials have not been disclosed yet. When the news of the festivities organised by the goonda leader came to light, the Alappuzha SP had announced an inquiry into the incident. The disciplinary action has been taken on the basis of the preliminary investigation.

MG Sabu was transferred to Alappuzha after the election code came into force. He had served in Ernakulam district for a long time. It is believed that he might have made contact with Faizal while serving in the area. A departmental-level inquiry will be conducted into Sabu’s involvement in the incident. The inquiry will be headed by Aluva DySP.

Sabu has only four days left to complete his service as he is scheduled to retire on May 31. Now it looks like the policeman will be suspended before his retirement. The Angamaly police had visited Thammanam Faizal’s house under the ‘Operation Aag’ programme and found that the party had been arranged for the DySP and other policemen.

When Sabu and other police officers saw the Angamaly team, they tried to escape from the house.
