Woman who accused BS Yeddyurappa of child sexual abuse dies in Bengaluru

The woman who had filed a complaint against former chief minister BS Yediyurappa accusing him of sexually abusing her minor daughter died in a hospital in Hulimavu, Bengaluru, on Sunday, May 26. According to sources, she went to the hospital saying her daughter was “weak”. Within hours, the daughter was informed that her mother had died, the source said.

An activist who worked with the woman said, “Three days ago she had asked to meet a lawyer who would take up the case. She was supposed to meet him today (Monday) and that’s how it happened.” She also said that the woman’s body was brought out of the hospital by her estranged son and brother without an autopsy. The activists are now calling on the police to investigate her death and conduct an investigation.

The woman had lodged a complaint at Sadashivanagar police station on March 14 and the police had registered a case under Section 8 (sexual assault) of POCSO and Section 354A (assault or use of criminal force on a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. According to her, the incident took place on February 2 at Yediyurappa’s residence in Sanjaynagar.

The mother had alleged that the BJP leader had sexually abused the minor in a room.
