Woman ‘raped’ at Punjab Institute of Cardiology

According to police reports, an employee raped a woman by promising her an expedited heart surgery for her father, who is currently admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

Following the woman’s complaint, the suspect was arrested and proceedings were initiated against him. After the rape victim was medically examined, the police have launched further investigations.

In a similar case, a mother was allegedly raped in the X-ray room of the government-run Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi. Police registered a case under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code after the woman’s medical examination confirmed the assault.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that the complainant was called to Benazir Bhutto Hospital on Murree Road by the prime suspect. He took her to the X-ray room where his accomplice, a hospital employee, was present.
