Ronald Acuña, Jr. tore his ACL; will miss the remainder of the 2024 season

The Atlanta Braves announced at 10:16 p.m. Eastern Time that Ronald Acuña, Jr. underwent an MRI which revealed a complete torn ACL in his left knee. He will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.

Acuña, Jr. left today’s game against the Pirates after taking an extended lead from second base.

Moments before the Braves’ official announcement, Acuña, Jr. posted a worrying message on his Twitter/X account that seemed like bad news could be coming. This ultimately proved to be the case.

A roster change will take place tomorrow as Atlanta looks to replace the team’s starting right fielder after losing him for the second time in four seasons to a season-ending knee injury. He missed the final half of the 2021 World Series season after injuring his right knee.

Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
