Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. out for season with second torn ACL – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. will be out for the rest of the season after injuring his left knee Sunday.

The Braves were dealt a major blow Sunday after an MRI confirmed Acuña completely tore his ACL on Sunday.

In the bottom of the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, Acuña succumbed to a non-contact injury after attempting to return to second base.

This is the second ACL tear in Acuña’s career following a torn right knee ligament during the 2021 season.

Acuña is coming off a record season with 41 home runs and 73 stolen bases. This is something that has never been done before in baseball history.

When asked if he planned to surpass last year’s numbers, Acuña said before the season that anything was possible as long as he stayed healthy.

Unfortunately, his season ended Sunday afternoon.
