Johnny Wactor, a well-known soap opera actor known for his portrayal of Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was tragically killed in a shooting in Los Angeles early Saturday morning.


Reports from TMZ, citing Wactor’s mother and police, indicate that the 37-year-old actor was shot in downtown Los Angeles after he and a friend caught three people trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car. Although Johnny Wactor did not resist the suspects, he was shot during the altercation.


The identities of the perpetrators are not yet known and no arrests have been made. The LAPD report states that the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. near Pico Boulevard and Hope Street, where Wactor was fatally shot while interrupting a theft in progress. Johnny Wactor, known for his roles in series such as Siberia and Criminal Minds, died, leaving behind his mother and two younger siblings.


His acting career began in 2007 with Army Wives and later he ventured into various roles before gaining recognition for his role in General Hospital. His talent agent David Shaul described Wactor as not only a talented actor but also a person of integrity who embodies qualities such as hard work and perseverance in the demanding world of acting.
