Fayette County man arrested after chase

POWELLTON, WV (WVNS) – Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shannon Morris confirmed to 59News that George Legg, who was known to not have a valid driver’s license, was spotted driving on Armstrong Creek Road at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

When officers attempted to stop him, Legg allegedly sped away at 90 miles per hour.

According to the report, Legg nearly collided with several cars before eventually ramming a police officer’s patrol car.

After the accident, officers were able to safely make the arrest, and Legg is now charged with felony reckless flight with a vehicle.

He was taken to the Southern Regional Jail to await trial.
