2 dead in a park in Silver Spring, police investigating

Shortly before 7 p.m., calls came in that officers had located two victims with gunshot wounds in Nolte Local Park.

SILVER SPRING, Maryland – Montgomery County officials are investigating a shooting in Silver Spring.

Police reported receiving calls about gunshot wounds shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday. When officers arrived in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue, they found two victims with gunshot wounds in Nolte Local Park.

During a press conference, police said both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They confirmed that both victims were men in their 20s and that there were witnesses at the time of the shooting.

At this time, we do not have any additional information about the victims, including gender, names, or where they live. Montgomery County Police and Park Police are investigating the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing and police are trying to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting. Officials have not yet issued a manhunt or released any information about the suspect.
