A 22-year-old man from Orange Farm Extension One, south of Johannesburg, lives in fear of his alleged rapist, who has still not been arrested three months after the incident.

The incident occurred on February 10 after a funeral ceremony the boy attended not far from his home.

The suspect allegedly asked the 22-year-old to buy a drink with him, but on the way the suspect changed his mind and allegedly suggested starting with him.

“When we arrived at his house, he became aggressive. He pushed me against the wall, hit me, undressed me and raped me,” said the 22-year-old victim.

According to the boy’s father, his son is constantly afraid and hides his face when he is on the street.

“He is afraid that the man will repeat what he did to him or kill him because he knows that my son has filed a complaint against him. My son is not like other children, he has a slow character and the incident has made his condition even worse.

“I worry every day about what my son will end up doing to himself and three months later the monster is still at large. This is despite my son filing a rape complaint at Orange Farm police station. He is attending counselling sessions but it would be much better if the suspect was arrested. I am angry that another man sexually abused my son. I want justice for him,” said the angry father.

Some residents spoke with Daily Sunsaid the 39 to 43-year-old suspect specifically seeks out his victims at funerals, parties and in bars.

His victims are young boys who cannot stand up for themselves.

“Many of his victims don’t talk about it when they wake up and don’t know what happened because he buys them alcohol. Sometimes he drugs them and takes them to his home,” said a local resident who knows the suspect.

Gauteng police spokeswoman Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said a case of sexual assault had been opened and police were investigating.
