Maryland man arrested for punching Virginia police officer

Otis Brown then pushed the officer into a car, damaging the vehicle, and began punching him multiple times before running away with an unidentified woman.

ARLINGTON, Virginia – A man is in custody for allegedly attacking an on-duty police officer in Arlington County.

Otis Brown, 29, of Waldorf, is charged with assault on police, intentional bodily harm and property damage.

Just before 1 a.m. Thursday, an officer arrived in the 2900 block of Columbia Pike for a report of a man causing a disturbance outside a business. When the officer arrived, he approached Brown and gave him instructions, but Brown ignored them, police said.

According to police, Brown then pushed the officer into a car, damaging the vehicle, and began hitting him multiple times before running away with an unknown woman.

The officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Brown is being held without bail at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
