Houston, Texas — Houstonians, keep your eyes on the road this long holiday weekend. A new study found that Houston is the deadliest city to drive in during Memorial Day weekend.

The Jerry Insurance Agency report analyzed traffic fatality data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) from 2018 to 2022 to determine the deadliest cities and the average number of crashes in the road fatalities throughout the holiday season, which NHTSA says begins starting Friday. at 6 p.m. until Tuesday at 6 a.m.

Texas is the deadliest state for driving on Memorial Day, with 218 traffic fatalities on average during the 2018-2022 holiday period. Houston rose to the top spot for deadliest cities, with 20 deaths on average.
