iCarly star Jerry Trainor says there will be “sexual situations” in the upcoming reboot: “We are adults”

iCarly It’s about to get hot!

Jerry Trainor – who reprises his role as Spencer Shay in the upcoming reboot – revealed that the Paramount+ series will be a bit more mature than fans of the original remember.

“We’re going to stick to that line, you know what I mean? It’s not going to be super-raw,” said 44-year-old Trainor Page Six“But yes, there will be sexual situations.”

He added: “And you know, I said ‘damn’ in the trailer, which got everyone all worked up, but you know we’re adults.”

In the same interview, Nathan Kress – known to fans as Freddie Benson – told the outlet, “This is a show for adults, not specifically for kids.”

Kress, 28, continued: “And that was exciting for us – just to see where these characters would be from a children’s show and where they are in their lives today, 10 years later. But in a very realistic, unvarnished way.”

Miranda Cosgrove also spoke about the increasing maturity of the series.

“My biggest hope for the revival is that it brings a lot of joy to people who watched the original series,” the 28-year-old actress told J-14 in January. “The new show is being made primarily for all the fans of the original series.”

Cosgrove added: “While we hope families will enjoy it together, this version of the show will be more mature and reflective of our current lives.”

iCarly originally ran on Nickelodeon from 2007 to 2012.

At that time, the show was intended for a younger audience and “sexual situations” were limited to simple make-outs.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the Paramount+ iCarly In a special reunion broadcast, Cosgrove talked about some of the kissing scenes she filmed with actors James Maslow and Kress in the original series.

“I have two funny memories (from that time),” she began. “My first kiss in my whole life was with James Maslow in the episode where he was in a hospital bed and I had to kiss him while he was unconscious.”

She continued, “The second kiss in my life was with (my co-star) Nathan on the show. Nathan had a girlfriend or a girl he liked on set that day and watched us kiss.”

The revival was announced last December and in May the cast revealed the June 17 premiere date to mark Cosgrove’s 28th birthday.

In addition to original cast members Cosgrove, Kress and Trainor, new stars Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett will join the cast.

Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam Puckett in the original series, confirmed earlier this year that she had quit acting and would not appear in the reboot.

Speak with Weekly entertainment Earlier this month, Cosgrove revealed how the new show will address the whereabouts of McCurdy’s character.

“We go into detail about the whole relationship with Sam and where Sam is right now in the pilot,” Cosgrove said. “And then we mention it a little bit throughout the season, so we’ll definitely explain that in the show.”

The iCarly The reboot of the series will premiere on June 17 on Paramount+. In the meantime, fans can watch all six seasons of the original series on the streaming service ViacomCBS.
