BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that two Brevard County men have been arrested in connection with the rage-fueled shooting of an SUV carrying a couple and three children.

Officers responded to the shooting in the Mims area around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. The victims reported they were traveling east on State Road 46 when a black Dodge pickup truck approached them.

The truck eventually overtook them, pushed them halfway off the road, cut them off, and stopped in front of them. Two men got out of the truck and fired several shots at the victims’ vehicle.

The couple had three children, ages 6, 4 and 18 months, in the back seat of the SUV at the time. Officers found 9 bullet holes in the vehicle and a shattered passenger window.

The events were confirmed by independent witnesses interviewed by detectives.

After firing several shots, the suspects got back into their truck and left the scene.

The victims called 911 and followed the truck at a distance as it headed toward Brevard County, where Brevard County Sheriff’s officers found it and conducted a traffic stop for a felony.

The shooters, identified as driver Chad Morrow, 45, of Cocoa, and passenger Chad McAninch, 52, of Port St. John, were taken into custody and both charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“Thank you to our friends at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office for their critical assistance in this operation,” said Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
