Off-duty police officers involved in a traffic accident in the south of Merida

On Saturday, May 25, an accident occurred in the streets of southern Mérida after two off-duty SSP agents caused an accident while under the influence of alcohol and then started a chase.

According to witnesses, both individuals were dressed as police officers in uniform and were sitting in a car. They allegedly caused an accident on 50th Street, but instead of stopping, they fled and tried to elude their colleagues who were pursuing them.

At the corner of 46-B Street and the intersection of Constitución Avenue in Colonia Santa Rosa, they ignored a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, causing them to overturn.

The SSP agents immediately arrested them, the drunken officers tried to convince them not to arrest them, saying they were their colleagues.

However, several witnesses confirmed that they were members of the state police.

They were loaded into a van that took them to the central building on the outskirts of Mérida.
They will be brought before a controlling judge to face the charges and damage they caused while under the influence of alcohol.
