Detectives investigate fatal shooting in Seattle

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating a fatal shooting.

According to the SPD, the shooting occurred on Saturday around 11:15 p.m. in Pioneer Square

Officers responded to reports that a man had been shot near the intersection of Occidental Avenue South and Yesler Way.

When Seattle police and firefighters arrived, they found an unconscious man in the basement of the Sinking Ship garage. Police reported that despite life-saving measures, the man died at the scene.

The officers then cordoned off the area until the homicide squad and forensic investigators arrived.

According to the SPD, the police are working to clarify the background to the shooting and identify possible suspects. The homicide squad is leading the investigation.
