Father and son killed in car crash in Ohio

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) — An accident in Pickaway County resulted in the deaths of a father and his son Wednesday evening.

The sheriff’s office said 15-year-old John Curtis was driving a Hyundai with his father, 46-year-old Joe Curtis, just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. John Curtis was actually getting his learner’s permit, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to PCSO, the Hyundai was traveling east on Kingston Adelphi Road near Zanes-Trace Road when John Curtis veered off the right side of the road, oversteered and entered the ghost train.

The Hyundai collided with a Ford travelling in the westbound lane of Kingston Adelphi Road, causing the Hyundai to enter a ditch and the Ford to come to rest on top of the Hyundai, according to the PCSO. Both John and Joe Curtis were trapped in the vehicle as a result of the crash.

Joe Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:10 p.m., while his son was flown to Grant Medical Center and later taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. On Saturday, John Curtis succumbed to his injuries from the crash. The sheriff’s office did not say whether the driver of the Ford sustained any injuries.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.
