Death investigation in Deep River suspected to be linked to Massachusetts crime spree – NBC Connecticut

Connecticut State Police continue to investigate a death in Deep River and the incident is believed to be connected to other crimes in Massachusetts.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a location in Deep River.

Officers found a body at the scene. The identity of the person was not disclosed.

The death in Deep River is believed to be connected to several stabbings in Massachusetts. NBC10 Boston has multiple law enforcement sources who link the two cases.

Police in Braintree, Massachusetts, said a man entered the AMC Braintree 10 around 6 p.m. Saturday, walked past the ticket counter, went into one of the theaters without paying and stabbed four young girls in an unprovoked attack. The girls, aged between 9 and 17, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

After the stabbing, the man reportedly ran out of the theater and drove away in an SUV. Video surveillance of the man’s vehicle captured the license plate and helped officers locate it.

Authorities said the man was involved in another stabbing attack shortly afterward at a McDonald’s in a park-and-ride lot in Plymouth, Massachusetts. A 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Massachusetts State Police later found the man’s vehicle in Sandwich, Massachusetts. When troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, the man reportedly did not stop.

Authorities said the man led police on a chase that ended in a serious accident. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is currently unclear.

Connecticut and Massachusetts state police have not released the suspect’s identity.
