In an exclusive interview with The Direct’s Russ Milheim: Mayor of Kingstown Actor Michael Beach shared that his co-star Jeremy Renner was clinically deceased following the snowplow incident – meaning his heart had actually stopped beating.

While Beach talked a lot about Renner, who plays the mayor on the show, he revealed this “(Renner) actually died.” And “38 bones broken” After being run over by a snow groomer in January 2023, he is now doing much better.

He kept telling his co-stars that “He feels stronger and stronger.” every week:

“Jeremy (Renner) is a warhorse, man. I mean, this guy broke 38 bones. He actually died, which I didn’t know until he told me, and he came back. And he says he wasn’t sure what it would be like. And he feels stronger and stronger every week. He is with us. He’s a great guy, man. And he’s really badass.

Beach added that Renner’s nephew, Alex Fries, whom he rescued, is working on him Kingstown oneself:

“And you know, his nephew that he saved is working on the show. So you get some perspective and they’re not afraid to tell you what was going on, how they were feeling and all that stuff. So it’s a unique perspective on the story of how Jeremy Renner was run over by a snowplow.

From then on, the conversation turned back to the show, which has been filming since January this year.

Beach then noticed Season 3 “About another month (filming).” and he constantly communicates with the writers to make sure he does “not to repeat something that (he) has already done:”

“We still have about a month left (of filming)… It’s great. Because I mean, that’s what I love, the writing, the harshness of the world we live in on ‘Mayor of Kingstown.'” And I just love it. And I’m always writing emails to the authors and so on, well, what about blah, blah, blah, you know, and I’m sure I’m a pain in the ass But I really want to make sure that I’m making sense surrender and not do something again that I have already done.

Michael Beach plays Captain Kareem, the temporary warden of Kingstown Prison in the series. While he had a recurring role in the first two seasons, this season will mark his first time as a series regular.

Beach a teased what fans can expect next season “More intimate” story for his character while also revealing that this is what the show will be like as a whole “Give more depth to more characters:”

“(Kareem) goes through a lot in ‘Kingstown.'” I think this season will be a little more intimate, and I think that’s partly because they didn’t want to put too much pressure on Jeremy (Renner). Although he has no problem with them adding a bit more depth to the characters, and you’ll feel that across the board. And I think that will be beneficial to the show. It’s still Jeremy’s show, he’s still running things, and you still follow him a little bit more.
