1 dead, 1 seriously injured after Woodlawn accident

Chicago police say one woman is dead and another is seriously injured after they collided with an SUV while on their way to file a police report in Woodlawn.

According to Chicago police, a Volkswagen and a Chevy SUV were traveling in the area of ​​6400 South Cottage Grove Avenue when they collided around 10:25 p.m. Saturday.

A 44-year-old woman who was in the Chevy was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead. Another 43-year-old woman was taken to the same hospital in critical condition.

A man and a woman who were in the Volkswagen were also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious and fair condition, respectively, according to police.

The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Unit is investigating.
