First Alert Weather: Enjoy Sunday before Memorial Day storms arrive

ROCHESTER, NY — We had quite a bit of rain on Saturday, and the last remnants of moisture remained in the form of clouds and fog on Sunday morning.

Sunday will start off foggy and cloudy for most of the morning, but the sun will break through in the afternoon. Sunday afternoon will remain dry, and compared to Saturday, Sunday will be a much better day for outdoor activities. Sunday afternoon will see partly cloudy skies and temperatures will reach between 25 and 25 degrees.

Dry weather will continue into early Sunday evenings, before a few showers are possible after midnight. A warm front will move in Sunday night, with a few showers possible after midnight. The “yellow alert” remains in effect for our region on Memorial Day, as widespread showers and storms are expected on the holiday.

It will likely be dry by daybreak on Memorial Day, but skies will be mostly cloudy and conditions will be muggy as the dew point rises. There will be a few showers from time to time Monday morning, so be sure to bring rain gear for all Memorial Day commemorative events and parades. There will be a greater chance of showers and storms in the afternoon, and those showers and storms will persist for most of the afternoon hours on Monday.

Storms moving in Monday afternoon may bring locally heavy rain and strong gusts, but the serious threat remains very limited. Showers and storms will continue into early Monday evening before finally drying out Tuesday morning.
