Serious accident between Perez and Magnussen interrupts the Monaco Grand Prix

The 2024 Monaco Grand Prix was halted due to a massive first-lap incident involving Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and the two Haas cars. Perez was pursued by the Haas VF-24s, which had started from the back of the grid due to a disqualification in qualifying. As they left Sainte Devote, Kevin Magnussen attempted to overtake Perez on the right, resulting in a devastating collision. Nico Hülkenberg also became involved in the chaos. Fortunately, Zhou Guanyu was right behind them and was able to brake in time to avoid further damage. Although all drivers involved were uninjured, extensive cleanup work is required to clear the debris.

Surprisingly, this collision was just one of three separate incidents that occurred on the first lap. Carlos Sainz, who had started in third place, lightly touched Oscar Piastri at Sainte Devote, damaging his Ferrari and forcing him to take evasive action. In the Alpine, Esteban Ocon attempted a daring attack on teammate Pierre Gasly at Portier, resulting in a significant collision. Ocon’s car briefly went airborne, leaving Gasly in disbelief and with visible damage.

“That’s an insane scream!” Gasly shouted angrily over the radio and demanded an explanation for Ocon’s reckless maneuver.
