Girl killed in shooting on Chicago’s Near West Side Sunday morning – NBC Chicago

A five-year-old girl has died after being shot in Chicago’s Near West Side, police said.

According to an update from authorities, the girl was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 200 block of North Campbell around 3:32 a.m. when shots were fired and at least one assailant targeted a group standing nearby.

The girl was hit in the stomach and taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 24-year-old man standing outside the vehicle was shot twice in the thigh and taken to a nearby hospital in good condition, police said.

No further information is available and no suspects are currently in custody.
