Man shot dead in Goldsboro, police say

GOLDSBORO, NC (WNCN) — A man was shot Saturday and died early Sunday morning, according to Goldsboro police.

On Saturday at 6:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call from 303 East Elm Street. The caller was asking for help for a man who had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found 56-year-old Tyrone Lee Hicklin suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. EMS transported the victim to UNC Health Wayne for treatment.

Hicklin was then transferred to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment.

At 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police were notified by ECU Health that Hicklin had died from his injuries. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
