Men raped girlfriend after she refused threesome in caravan in Balmoral

Two Victorian men raped a friend in a caravan after she refused a threesome with the couple.

A jury found Shaun Bloomfield guilty of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, while co-defendant Luke Merryfull was found guilty of rape earlier this year.

The couple denied the 2016 crime, which took place in a caravan in Balmoral in the west of the state, and instead argued that the sex was consensual.

The victim told the men “absolutely not” and “no”, but her requests were ignored, the Victoria District Court heard on Monday.

She also tried to wrap herself in a blanket to avoid having sex with the men.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said she is still struggling to cope three years after the rape and assault.

“It is very difficult for me to leave the house,” she said in her statement, which was read by prosecutor Daryl Brown.

“I feel constant sadness and fear and have lost a lot of confidence and trust.”

The verdict against Bloomfield and Merryfull is expected to be announced on Wednesday.
