14-year-old sexually harassed and abused by man; Missouri documents say abuse was filmed for pleasure

A guilty plea by 36-year-old Matthew Gamel states that he sexually abused the victim and filmed it at least four times. The injured person was younger than 14 years old. In addition to the recordings he made, Gamel had more than 1,700 media files from the Internet that showed sexual abuse of children.

Chris Crocker, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI in St. Louis, said, “We are pleased with today’s verdict and appreciate the hard work and cooperation of the Pevely Police Department to bring justice to the victim.” “We hope this will aid in the healing process after the defendant horribly injured a young child who was easy to hurt.”

In February, Gamel pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to sexual abuse of a minor and receipt of child pornography.

Judge Sarah E. Pitlyk of the U.S. District Court in Pevely, Missouri, sentenced a man to 40 years in prison on Wednesday for filming himself sexually abusing a child.
