Bridgeport man shot at PT Barnum Housing on Saturday night

BRIDGEPORT – City police said they are investigating a shooting that injured a 22-year-old local man Saturday night.

Officers returned to the PT Barnum Apartments around 8:10 p.m. after receiving ShotSpotter alerts from the area, said Captain Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police Department.

Gilleran said a crime scene had been secured near Building 6, but a victim had not been found immediately.

More than an hour later, the victim was taken to a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds to the leg and hand, Gilleran said, adding that the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Gilleran said investigators were searching the crime scene to collect evidence and conduct interviews.

The shooting remains under investigation.
