Woman killed, 3 injured in mass crash in Woodlawn at corner of Cottage Grove Avenue and 64th Street, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) — One person was killed and three others injured in a multi-vehicle crash in the south of the city, Chicago police said.

The accident occurred around 10:25 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of 64th and Cottage Grove Avenue in Woodlawn.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident: an SUV, a Volkswagen sedan and a Chevy SUV, police said.

The drivers of the SUV and Volkswagen had been involved in a previous accident and were driving to the police station to file a report when they collided with the Chevy.

A 44-year-old woman was driving the Chevy. She was taken to the hospital by Chicago firefighters, where she later died.

The Chevy passenger, a 43-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The SUV driver was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital and is expected to be fine.

The CPD Major Accident Unit is investigating.
