Illegal Israeli settlers attack Palestinian village in northern West Bank

RAMALLAH, Palestine

Illegal Israeli settlers attacked the homes of Palestinians under Israeli army protection in the village of Qusra in the southern city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

“The townspeople rushed to repel the attack, which led to clashes with the occupying army and settlers,” in which the army used “live ammunition,” it said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said it had treated the wounds of a 29-year-old man injured in fighting in Qusra and taken him to hospital.

It was not immediately clear whether the bullets that hit the victim were fired by settlers or the army.

In the southern West Bank, anti-settlement activist Arif Jaber told Anadolu that the army had increased its troops in the Palestinian neighborhoods of the urban area it controls.

“The occupation forces have expanded extensively in the Jaber and Wadi al-Hussein neighborhoods around the Old City of Hebron and arrested at least five residents,” he added.

Jaber pointed out that Palestinian neighborhoods in the city center have been under a curfew most of the time since October 7, in addition to raids, arrest campaigns and persecution of residents who are forced to leave their homes.

Since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7, the situation has been tense throughout the West Bank.

According to the Health Ministry, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 5,000 injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territories since then.
