Det Chief Insp Alex Gammampila said Kamari’s death had caused “shock and concern” in the local community.

“A team of experienced investigators is working tirelessly to find out what happened to Kamari and why he was attacked,” he said.

“Tonight’s arrest shows the progress we are making and that is thanks in no small part to the support we have received from the community.

“We must work together to ensure Kamari’s family gets the answers they deserve about what happened to him.”

He urged the public to avoid speculation about the incident.

The criminal police have asked for witnesses.
