Detectives investigate murder case at Pioneer Square

Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Pioneer Square on Saturday night.

At around 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a report that a man had been shot near the intersection of Occidental Avenue South and Yesler Way.

Officers and Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived to find an unconscious man in the basement of the Sinking Ship garage. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers cordoned off the area until homicide and crime scene investigators arrived.

Police are currently trying to determine the exact circumstances of the shooting and identify any suspects. The Homicide Squad will lead the investigation.
