Pedestrian dies after fatal accident in Devon

A woman has died following an incident in Devon, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers attended “a fatal collision involving a pedestrian” on a section of the A38 near Chudleigh Knighton.

Ambulances and firefighters were also on site, police said.

The road was closed in both directions.

Police said: “The death of a woman has been reported. Her next of kin have been informed.”

“The road is closed in both directions and is expected to remain so for some time. Road users are asked to take alternative routes.

“Investigations to clarify the circumstances are ongoing.”

Officials did not say whether a vehicle was involved.
