1 dead in tractor-trailer accident in Clay County

A 90-year-old woman was killed in a traffic accident in Clay County on Friday afternoon, according to an accident report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

According to authorities, a 64-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Suburban westbound on I-94 in Glyndon Township around 3:36 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway, struck the guardrail and re-entered the roadway, where it collided with a semi-truck.

Barbara Patricia Klasinski, 90, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, died at the scene, authorities said. She was one of four people in the SUV. Another passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

None of the other occupants of the SUV were injured. The driver of the semi-trailer was also uninjured, authorities said.

The State Patrol noted that it was raining heavily and the roads were wet at the time of the accident.
