Karnataka bus drivers and conductors suspended for shooting videos while on duty. VIDEO | Bengaluru

Two North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) employees, a bus driver and a conductor, have been suspended for filming an Instagram video while on duty. The state-run transport corporation said the suspension was imposed because the video had portrayed the department in a bad light.

In a viral video, bus driver Hanumanthappa is seen holding an umbrella. He believes that when it rains, everyone on the bus will get soaked. The video was allegedly shot by conductor Anita, who was on the same bus. The video went viral on social media with many users questioning the safety of passengers and the fitness of NWKRTC buses. A departmental inquiry has also been launched against the two NWKRTC employees.

Speaking to news agency ANI, NWKRTC Managing Director Priyanga said, “However, the NWKRTC has suspended both the driver and the conductor for portraying the NWKRTC in a bad light and has initiated a departmental investigation against them.”

The general manager further clarified that the inspection of the bus was carried out to determine whether the roof was actually leaking. “The NWKRTC took the incident seriously and inspected the bus. It was found that the roof of the bus was not leaking. The driver and conductor had filmed the movie for entertainment,” he added.
