Nina Dobrev in hospital after e-bike accident; says she has a ‘long road to recovery’ ahead

Nina Dobrev attends the CFDA Fashion Awards at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Nina Dobrev says her first ride on an e-bike — actually an electric-powered motorcycle — will be her last after a recent hospital stay.

Nina Dobrev was hospitalized for an injury after riding an e-bike for the first – and apparently last – time

“I’m doing well but the road to recovery is ahead of me,” she wrote on her Instagram stories on Monday, adding in another update, “I think it’s safe to say my first time on a dirt bike will also be my last lol.”

The 35-year-old former “Vampire Diaries” actress also had a post on her main grid titled “How it all began vs. how it continues.” The first picture shows her grinning on an e-bike, the second picture shows her with a dismayed grimace while hooked up to monitors and having an IV in one arm. In the second picture, she is wearing a blue hospital gown and has a brace around her neck and leg.

Dobrev did not say where or when the accident occurred or whether the injury would affect her work. She most recently starred in the action thriller “The Bricklayer,” which was released in the U.S. in January alongside actor Aaron Eckhart.

Dobrev’s press officials did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment on Tuesday.

The e-bike Dobrev is riding on was identified by website Autoevolution as E Ride Pro’s Pro-SS, an electric motorcycle. The 2024 model can accelerate from 0 to 30 mph in under three seconds, according to the manufacturer.

The celebrity, also known for her roles in the romantic comedies “Dog Days” and “Love Hard,” is no stranger to off-road adventures and extreme sports. Her Instagram account shows her riding horses and flying helicopters, as well as surfing and snowboarding. The actress has been dating three-time Olympic gold medalist and snowboarder Shaun White since 2020. Together they have traveled the world, including a trip to Antarctica in early 2023.

In an Instagram post from summer 2022, Dobrev is seen riding an ATV that is almost perpendicular to the ground, casually displaying the “Hang Loose” sign, while White runs toward her with a worried look on his face. “He’s always one step ahead of me,” the caption reads. “Now it was my turn.”

A few hours after her posts went live, White posted a photo of Dobrev, who appeared to be well enough to travel, with her injured leg propped up on pillows on what appeared to be a private plane while her Border Collie-Australian Shepherd mix, Maverick, lounged next to her.
