1 dead in accident involving motorcycle and pickup truck in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – The driver of a motorcycle was killed Saturday in a collision with a pickup truck at a Chesapeake intersection, police said.

At 5:17 p.m., Chesapeake Police responded to a crash at the intersection of Hanbury Road East and Benson Lane.

At the scene, they learned that a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Hanbury Road East and was approaching the intersection with Benson Lane when a pickup truck traveling westbound on Hanbury Road East turned in front of the motorcycle onto Benson Lane and headed toward the local shopping center.

The motorcycle hit the side of the pickup truck and the motorcyclist was killed, police said.

Pictures from the crime scene showed a motorcycle and a pickup truck to the right of the entrance to the shopping center, and debris was lying at the intersection near the entrance. Several police officers and a forensic vehicle were on site.

The roads are open to traffic at this time.
