Property dispute: Elderly man dies after attack over property dispute | Ludhiana News

Times News NetworkLudhiana: A 62-year-old resident of Joshi Nagar, who was beaten up by a resident of Pink Flats, Pakhowal Road, has died. The accused and the victim had a dispute over a shop in Joshi Nagar, a case on which is pending in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The accused allegedly argued with the elderly man and beat him up, following which the latter died.Haibowal police have filed an FIR under sections 302 (murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against Paramjeet Singh Bhalla of Pink Flats, Pakhowal Road. The FIR was filed on the complaint of Puneet Marwaha of Joshi Nagar, whose father Darshan Lal, 62, died in the attack.Puneet Marwaha said the father of accused Paramjeet Singh Bhalla, Inderjeet Singh Bhalla, owned a shop near their house. His father Darshan Lal has been running a bookshop there on rent for around 30 years. He said they used to pay the rent of the bookshop on time but had a dispute with the landlord over the bookshop, the case of which is still pending in the Supreme Court. Despite this, he said the accused used to harass them continuously. Marwaha added, “On Friday morning, Paramjeet Singh Bhalla came to our bookshop when our worker was sweeping the house. The accused abused him and snatched the broom from him. Hearing his screams, my father and mother stormed out of the house. The accused started abusing my father, mother and sister. Meanwhile, I was in the bathroom and quickly came out to check. Before I could do anything, Paramjeet attacked my father, who suffered a head injury and fell down. We took him to the hospital, but he did not survive.” The victim alleged that Paramjeet and his father Inderjeet Singh Bhalla, who are real estate agents, were pressurising him to withdraw the complaint. Sub-Inspector Satnam Singh said the police have registered a murder case and the accused will be arrested soon.
