Child suffers gunshot wound in Port Charlotte

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Detectives with the Major Crimes Division are investigating an incident in which a small child was injured by a gunshot wound.

On Saturday, May 25, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident involving a small child on Pulaski Street in Port Charlotte.

The child was taken to hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

DCF has been contacted and the District Attorney’s Office has signed a search warrant for further investigation.
