Woman shot and killed during meal for family member in Decatur, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A 30-year-old woman was shot and killed while dining for a family member in DeKalb County Friday evening, Atlanta police said.

Officers were called to a home in the 2000 block of Chesnut Hill Circle in Decatur around 7 p.m. Participants said a large crowd had gathered at a house for the meal when they heard gunshots coming from several houses below. The woman, who was with the others, was beaten.

The woman’s friends took her to a local hospital, where she later died, police said.

Police have not named any suspects or said whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

A meal is a meal that family and friends share after a funeral service.
