Shooting in Pembroke Township, Illinois leaves 5 shot and 2 dead near 13100 East Central Street, Kankakee County sheriff says

PEMBROKE TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WLS) – Five people were shot, two fatally, in Kankakee County on Friday evening, the sheriff’s office said.

Kankakee County sheriff’s deputies and officers from neighboring agencies responded to the area of ​​13100 East Central Street in Pembroke Township shortly before midnight.

When officers arrived, large groups of people were fleeing from two parties at a nearby banquet hall.

Officers found five people with gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another at a local hospital. Their identities have not been released.

What led to the shooting was not immediately clear.
