Ridgefield police respond to incident involving juvenile; suspect’s vehicle crashes after chase

RIDGEFIELD – Police responded to a juvenile-related incident involving a possible kidnapping and a chase that ended in a crash on Wilton Road West at approximately 5:15 p.m. on May 24.

Ridgefield Police assisted Wilton Police in a chase that began when the kidnapping of a young woman was reported.

She managed to get out of the suspects’ vehicle near Tanglewood Court before it continued north on Main Street.

Despite attempts by Wilton and Ridgefield officers to stop the suspect vehicle, it refused to stop and then turned onto Catoonah Street, where it collided with another car.

After the accident, several young people fled the vehicle on foot.

A restricted area was marked out and with the help of police dog units from Ridgefield and Bridgeport, four teenagers – two men and two women – were tracked down and arrested.

They were then taken to the Wilton Police Station for further investigation.

Local law enforcement thanked neighboring agencies for their assistance and the public for their help, saying that citizens’ phone calls played a critical role in resolving the situation.

Authorities have confirmed that there is no further danger to the public following the incident.
