Gwinnett Police Allow Residents to Upload Gate Codes…

The Gwinnett County Police Department offers residents the ability to upload their private gate codes for first responders to use in the event of an emergency at a gated residence.

“In an emergency, we know that every second counts,” the agency said in a press release. “With the increasing use of privacy gates at the entrances to businesses, residential areas and private homes, it is essential that first responders have access to the gates in the event of an emergency.”

The Gwinnett County Emergency Operations Center maintains a list of gate codes and other emergency contact information that can be used by police, fire and emergency medical services when responding to emergency calls.

Those who wish to add their codes to the list can do so by visiting the county’s emergency contact information form. From there, residents select the type of gate code they wish to add. Choices include businesses, residences, storage facilities, housing developments or apartment complexes.

Once the form is completed, the information is sent directly to the E-911 center for entry into the CAD system.
