Few details on Monday’s pursuit incident in Calhoun County – WLDS

Few details have been released since Monday about a multi-county police pursuit involving multiple agencies in Calhoun County.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department posted a public notice on its social media page Monday that its office had received several calls requesting additional information about suspects involved in an incident in Brussels.

The statement said there was no immediate danger to the public and there were no suspects in connection with the unnamed incident. The sheriff’s office said that after reviewing camera footage, there was only one suspect, who was arrested in the early morning hours Monday with the help of a Pike County Sheriff’s Department K9 officer.

The Calhoun News Herald reports the incident began when the suspect fled a traffic stop in Jersey County and was last seen driving through Hardin at a high rate of speed. Officers are said to have lost sight of the vehicle, but later found an overturned vehicle matching the description in Brussels and were later able to locate the suspect.

Calhoun County Sheriff Bill Heffington told the News Herald that more details will be released soon in a news release.
