Chicago shootings today: Police report at least 10 shots and 2 dead in gun violence across the city over Memorial Day weekend

CHICAGO (WLS) — At least 10 people were shot, two fatally, in gun violence over Memorial Day weekend in Chicago, police said.

Chicago police are investigating a double homicide in the Albany Park neighborhood.

Officers responded to a call reporting shots fired in an alley near Leland and Troy shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday night, police said.

Investigators said they found two men who had been shot in the head. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A witness told police he saw a black sedan speeding away from the area at high speed.

No one is in custody. Area Five detectives are investigating.

About an hour earlier, three men were shot on the south side, police said.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. in the Englewood neighborhood at 300 West 59th Place.

A group of people were on a vacant lot when someone fired shots, police said.

A 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the lower leg was taken to Providence Hospital in good condition.

Another 29-year-old man with a grazed shoulder was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

A 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the arm was taken to the same hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.

Last weekend, at least 45 people were shot in gun violence in Chicago, one of them fatally, police said.

Last year, 53 people were shot and 11 killed in Chicago on Memorial Day weekend.
