Investigation into Belmont shooting | wcnc.com

The police said it was not a random act of violence.

BELMONT, NC — Police are investigating after a man was shot in Belmont Saturday morning.

The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. in an apartment at 23 Alice Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Andres Contreras Cervantes, who had been shot, police said.

Cervantes was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Initial evidence gathered during the investigation suggests that “known acquaintances” were involved in the shooting and that it was not a random act of violence.

Detectives with the Belmont Police Department are actively investigating the shooting.
